Trivia: Movies: King Kong vs. Godzilla

For many years there was a myth about the movie "King Kong vs. Godzilla", that even I believed and that was that in the American version King Kong won and that in the Japanese version Godzilla won. This myth started in the 60's in Spacemen magazine and continue through the 80's stated in a couple of Famous Monsters of Filmland magazines. Even the Trivial Pursuit's Genus III edition had it wrong. Since early Japanese movies were hard to come by the myth stood strong, but now that many older movies are available on home video the myth can be put to sleep. The movie was originally released in Japan August, 1962 and in the US in June, 1963. By the way, it has the highest box office attendance figures of all the Godzilla movies. Who knows which famous monster came out the victor?

Today is Friday and many say "Thank God it's Friday", but truth be known it was named after a goddess. Actually two goddesses, but it is more of a debate than a shared honor.  One being Freya, the goddess whose sacred day is Friday while others say Friday is Frigga Day, named after Frigga, the wife of Odin who is a major god in Norse Mythology. So, again, trivia hits us just before the week end. On a final note, the Italian court said, as recent as December 2007, that a baby couldn't be named Friday. We can still say "TGIF", but just remember it's "Thank Goddess, it's Friday".

Welcome to my first unimportant blog

Trivia: matters or things that are very unimportant, inconsequential; pieces of information of little importance or value. This is why I love trivia so much. So where did that definition come from? It came from a dictionary and we all know whose dictionary. Since the answer to that question is Webster, we can all assume Webster is the piece of trivia in my very first blog. He is Noah Webster the author of popular readers and spelling books for schools. He published the first dictionary, so please don't mistake the name on the dictionary for that of Emmanuel Lewis or Sue-Anne Webster. By the way does anyone know who these two people are? Hint: He is not her son.
